INTAKE GUIDELINES
• The person who needs legal help should call unless he or she cannot call due to age or disability. Our office will arrange for an interpreter to assist during the phone call if necessary.
• ILSI gets a lot of calls, so you may have to leave a message when you call. Our intake workers take calls from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and will call you back as soon as they can. In order to help us return your call, be sure to say your name and your phone number 2 times in your message.
• If you have received any papers from a court, government agency (like U.S.C.I.S. or I.C.E.), you should have them with you when you call.
• All information you give us will be kept confidential.
The person you speak to at our office will first determine if you are eligible for services. You will be asked some questions about your income and other personal information. If you don’t qualify for assistance from our office, we will try to tell you right away.
WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU ARE ELIGIBLE FOR SERVICES?
You will usually be called back to schedule an in-office consultation with one of our attorneys about one week after your intake has been completed. If you do not have a phone, a call back time will be arranged.
WHAT IF WE CANNOT ACCEPT YOUR CASE?
We cannot accept every case. If we cannot help you with an immigration problem, we will send you a list of referrals for other immigration attorneys that may be able to assist you with your case.
